I went today to Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire to see some Art, but the garden was what won my heart.
It begins neatly and quite formally.
But through a gate, a large walled garden.
Note the little terracotta pots on the sticks.
Picturesque view with village church.
Borders where plants tumble over each other. Lots of plants, lots to see and lots of work.
All tended by volunteers it's full of flowers and produce just as you'd find in a cottage garden or allotment.
Smart chicken houses - with slate roofs!
It isn't pristine but it is pretty and my kind of garden. Created by the gardeners' love of plants and the growing of them. I bought some good veg for supper.
