I am very pleased with these colours and tones so wanted to share it. The cobalt oxide is blue where glaze touches but otherwise quite black. I like how a very thin coat of glaze creates a rust colour, which goes well with blues.

This is crank clay - with grit in it.

Next I want to venture into 3D.

Pieces of Clay

Some of my Indian wood blocks and bits of coral pressed into porcelain. These are for experimenting with oxides and underglaze colours.

 
Here I made my own ceramic stamps and used cobalt oxide, a bit of clear glaze and a bit of white slip.
There's than wonderful blue/black.
 

The Magic of Indigo

Summer is the time for indigo dyeing - outdoors.

It can be a messy business.

After patiently wrapping, tying, stitching, knotting, folding and pleating.... 

shoals of fishes dart across the cloth.

It is magical watching the fabric change colour as it meets the air, before your very eyes. How long will it now sit in my trunk before I have the confidence to chop and sew?
