Green is Good for You

A walk along the river from Youlgreave, Derbyshire in May.

Big Sky Walk

Innocent clouds reflect in puddles.
Hedges stretch their tendrils.
Sheep munch their way through acres of brussels sprouts.

Mud threatens to slip us up if not suck us down,
but the sun shines all day : ).

Summer Love

A thin tile of porcelain impressed with summer leaves and flowers.
I'm very pleased with the glaze colouring, especially the fading at the edges.
Looks almost photographic.

small things

I'm sad to see summer slip away
but today found some small compensations for the cold, wet
and reduced light.
Yet to come ..... changing colours, seed pods and frost.

Little Bit of Paradise

This has been a challenging year for gardening in the UK.
Two plants that have excelled in my garden, however, are the tall and airy verbena and these radiant nasturtiums.
 All loved by bees.
The place is buzzing!.
Oh, and the courgettes have got out of hand again!

Derbyshire

Despite the haze it was a thrill to see hills. To drive and then walk amongst them.
In my photographs I just have not captured the beauty of those layers of land fading into the distance.
In the "Dark Peaks" there are strange rocks scattered on the tops - giant pebbles.

A bit of a climb up hill.
A little stone shelter decorated inside with tiny tiles.

 And my favourite ......

 And a beautiful, welcome seat.

Sweet Sweetpeas

So delicate and destined to last only a day or two.
This tiny bunch fills the whole room with it's perfume.

Woodland Creature

My zodiac sign - Capricorn - suggests that I am a lover of rocky heights.
There have been many a time I've enjoyed being above the clouds after a steep climb,
 however ...
lush green
 deep shadows
 dappled light
 damp, mossy banks
and the sounds, smells and secret life of woodlands is where I feel most at home.

Sunshine After The Rain

I do hope that, no matter I old I get, I will always feel that joy of discovering new sights, sounds and changes with each season turn.
A Warwickshire view late afternoon yesterday.
My photograph does not capture the colour I saw. A lovely walk with only light showers but the wellington boots were absolutely essential.

I planted just four runner beans
in the hope of getting three.
I didn't want to over do things and have a glut.
But I only got one.
I planted the whole packet of sweetpeas - I thought I might as well.
All twenty four growing strong!

Flying Hare

I tested my new lino cut today.
I intend this plate to be pressed into clay and then I'll inlay with coloured slips - oxides too maybe.
He certainly has hare's ears but he looks a bit prettier than I intended, a bit cute.
I've since made a couple of changes to his muzzle.

May to September

Thank you to the previous occupants who planted these shrubs in my garden. Perfect blossom in spring and now a fabulous show of berries.

Tessa Farmer

Tessa Farmer's work is incredible in its intricate detail. Evil skeletal "fairies" dominate, torture, murder and devour insects, birds and small mammals. She creates another world with gruesome materials.

Seen at Birminham's Waterhall Gallery -
I initially overlooked the glass case holding her sculpture but further into the room was her stop motion animation film in collaboration with Sean Daniels. Here is an extract.
Seeing these creatures come to life was amazing.
